Heyyyyyyyyy I'm sitting in the “common area” in our dorm. We haven't really done much today yet... I got up and took a very cold shower. (Boooo) and got ready... and figured out what I was reading for NIPTO this week.
Rachel dyed Jon's hair last night... he texted her and said that it didn't turn out well, but we haven't seen him yet to tell for ourselves. (It's really not there much... it's a little bit blue. But not really)
So today we're going to eat breakfast and go to our first session from 9:30-11. Then from 11:30-12 we're doing an “interactive” which is just getting to know the people around us? We're going to a park from 12-2 for lunch and then we have free time from 2-3:30. Thennn fro 3:30-5 we have evangelism breakout sessions.
Okay. Breakfast is finished and now we're having quiet times in our rooms before we have to leave for our session.
NIPTO today will be Acts 5:1-11 (Just to warn you, this isn't a happy section!)
1Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet.
Okay. So all of these people have been selling a bunch of their stuff and have been giving the money to the apostles. This guy&his wife sold a part of their land. They went to the apostles and gave them part of the money. That wasn't exactly honest. Seeing as the point of selling stuff was to help people who didn't have enough.
3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
Peter realized that Ananias lied and kept part of the money for himself. And he called him out. Big time. Ananias might've thought that he was just keeping part of the money for himself. And I think what Peter's telling him that it would've been better if he had kept all the money for himself instead of giving part of the money to God. Because it wasn't really in the spirit of what these people were doing.
5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
Annnnnd so he died. And people got scared. (Hey. I'd get scared if someone dropped down dead because he lied! That would keep people from lying...)
7About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8Peter asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?"
"Yes," she said, "that is the price."
Soo a little while later, Ananias' wife comes in and Peter asks her if the money that Ananaias gave was the full amount that they got for the land that they sold. She told him yes...
9Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also."
Those had to be some strange last words to hear... but she lied too. She really wasn't honest because she knew that that wasn't the full amount that they got for the land...
10At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
And she died too. The people who buried her husband buried her too. And then the church was kinda scared. And like I said, I would be scared too!
That's it for now! I gotta run because we have our first session and I'm supposed to be in the lobby like now! Soooooo I'll write later! (Maybe a post on whatever the session is about this morning :)
Byeeeee!
