This will be a purely NIPTO post. If you want to see what I did today, go here :)
Acts 2:42-47
42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
They devoted themselves. They commited themselves. The formal definition of "devote" contains the word "consecrate." They did this to people's teaching. Fellowship. Prayer.
43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common.
This kind of speaks for itself. But I want to comment that they "had everything in common." That's a lot of stuff.
45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Irresistible Revolution. Shane Claibourne. This is basically his philosophy. Give as people have needs. You should really read the book. It's quite fantastic.
46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
They met every day. They took communion. And they had meals together. And they were happy. They praised God and enjoyed people. And the Lord added to their number daily. They didn't do anything, God did.
There are a couple thigns in what I just wrote that I think we forget a lot of times.
1) to be sincerely happy and glad.
2) to enjoy the people we're with
3) God's in charge of adding people to his kindom, not us. So don't fret it.
And that's all for tonight. I'm tired. I'm confused about things that can't be blogged about (sorry for beign ambiguious). And I have to get up early tomorrow for music.
Goodnight.
