NIPTO, Day 166

I'm going to start this off with something fun. BABY SEALS!

Aren't they cute??? I thought so.

(And I sounded like a seal barking this morning when I woke up and would cough... You really wanted to know that, I know.)

Yesterday was fairly uneventful... I got most of the things on my to-do list crossed off.
I blogged, I listened to Tammy Smith, I finished The Princess Bride, I walked, I made signs for my room from  quotes from LT (Not on my to-do list, but it kind of was). And I started thinking about what I'm going to talk about on Sunday... which could be translated to a post for liveGrounded.

I really start driving school on Monday... Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from like... 8-12:15? Crazy. It's going to be a long 6 days, but it'll be good to get it over with... Then there are the in-cars... which scare me a little bit... (I don't turn the "right" way... My hands are not in the right position or whatever =P)

We went to lunch with Kasey&Bethany today! They called and said they were in town so we got together for a last minute lunch at Chiptole :) It was nice to hear what they've been up to&to catch up in general. :)

Now. I must be productive...

SO... I guess it's NIPTO?

Acts 8:9-25
9Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is the divine power known as the Great Power."

Soooo there's this guy. And his name is Simon. And he's a sorcerer. And people thought he was amazing

11They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. 12But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.

Oh wow. I'm amazing! haha (I didn't read ahead, and I said that they thought he was amazing... and then it says that he had amazed them) Wow. I'm awesome like that =P (or not.)
Anyways! They followed him because they were like "Hey! This guys' cool. And he amazes me." But then they believed what Philip said and everyone got baptized and believed and all that jazz. Simon the sorcerer himself believed! And then he started stalking Philip. HAHA (Sorry. I think I'm funny... I apologize if you think I'm uber lame!)

14When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit,16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Coolio section here! The church in Jerusalem heard that the people in Samaria were believing in God, so they sent Peter and John to do what they do best: give people the Holy Spirit. :)
So that's what happened.

18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money 19and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

20Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin."

Sooooo Simon sees that they're handing out the Holy Spirit and he wants to know where he can buy some. Then Peter gets in a tizzy and tells him off because the Holy Spirit can't be bought by money. It's a gift. But I think a lot of times we do this too. We're like... okay, so now what do I have to do. What do I have to give in return? Nothing. It's a gift. Sure we have to give ourselves to God, but we don't have to do anything to get the Holy Spirit.

24Then Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me."
25When they had testified and proclaimed the word of the Lord, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.

Simon realized what he had said was wrong and asked Peter to pray for him so he could be forgiven.
Then Peter&John went back to Jerusalem and stopped in villages and taught along the way.

Thaaaat's about it. I'm making a playlist of songs that we sang at LT at the moment... I'll probably post that on the next post... and maybe just on my blog in general so when you go to my blog there's music playing... :)

Hope you're having a good day!
