NIPTO, Day 167

I am TIRED. It's been a crazy day!

We got up this morning and headed down to Wooster to pick up the doggy from Meme... It was good to see Meme and the dog.
We went to Panera and ate outside (so the dog wouldn't have to sit in the car). It was lovely to sit outside... there was a breeze... it felt like NYC =D
Then we came home and I went with Dad to pick up the Karen girls... they came over... we ate lunch... watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants... went swimming. They went home. I showered and ate dinner and watched an episode of Chuck (the one where Shaw gets involved. =/).
Mom&Dad came home... Mom&I went to do a job that we have and we thankfully were done before it started to storm... a lot. It got super windy and dark and it was crazy.

Now we're watching one of our favorite movies.
"Are you in this family?" "Uhm...." "Are you in this family?? I'm fed up with all this reading."
"It's trash!" "It's not trash, Daddy, it's lovely! It's Moby Dick by Herman Melvil."

If you don't know what movie it is, I'm very sad for you... and you should come over. (MATILDA! Greaat movie.)

And now "I'm exhausted!" (I'm tired too, mother. You're tired? Yes, I'm tired!)

NIPTO today is going to be Acts 8:26-40

26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. 29The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."

Okay. Sooo this angel tells Philip to go down this road. So he goes down this road and he meets this Ethiopian dude. He was an important dude. He was headed to Jerusalem to worship&whatnot... and he was reading the bible! And then the Spirit told Philip to go to&stay near the chariot. Hm.... interesting...

30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked.
31"How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
SO then. Philip goes up to the chariot and he hears the guy reading what Isaiah had written. Philip then asks an important question: "do you understand what you are reading?" (A lot of the time, we don't really understand what we're reading.)
The guy's like, "Well... No. I don't. How can I understand it unless someone explains it to me?!" So then Philip goes and sits with him and they talk.

32The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture:
"He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before the shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth."

34The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" 35Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
The guy was reading in a place that was describing Jesus. But he didn't know that. But Philip did. The guy was like, "who is this talking about? Was the prophet talking about himself? Was he talking about someone else?" And Philip got to tell him about Jesus! And what an amazing thing had happened.

36As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?"

This is fantastic. The dude understands. And he's like, "uhm... there's water right there... is there any reason I shouldn't get baptized?" Fantastic. He's an instigator! He doesn't wait around. I like that!

38And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

Apparently, Philip didn't have a problem with it, so they stopped the chariot and they both got into the water and Phil baptized him! Awesome-sauce! (One of my sister's favorite phrases)

39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Soooo Philip disappeared when they got out of the water. And the guy didn't see him again. But he still went on his way. And he didn't mope on his way. He rejoiced on his way! Again: awesome-sauce!

40Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

ah! God perfected apperating! hahahaha. Wouldn't that be kinda crazy though? To disappear on the road to Jerusalem and then reappear somewhere completely different? Craziness!
It didn't phase Philip though. He just went on his merry way teaching the gospel like a good disciple. =P

That's it for me folks! I'm pretty exhaustified and it's getting later and later...
We're doing music in the morning (AWESOME set! (O Praise him, Jesus Paid it all, Stronger, Fire Fall Down, and Oh Lord, To You)) and we're speaking. LT Sunday and all. Should be sweet. I'll post a link once my dad gets it up on the church website! (Unless I mess up terribly in both services. Then you will get no link. Muwahaha)
