NIPTO, Day 187

Goood day my fine readers!

Today has been a good, productive day!

We got up somewhat early... and we went on a walk. Got back to the house&got presentable to the public, then went to Kohl's to return stuff, then we stopped back at home to get a list that we forgot. Then we headed down to The Strip. Mom and Hannah went to Bed, Bath&Beyond while Katie and I went to Old Navy (I had(&still have a little bit!) a gift card from my birthday). I got a pair of jeans (much needed!) and a really soft, black t-shirt.
Then it was off to Wally World... also known as Wal-Mart. We got a lot of stuff there. Some school stuff. Some dorm stuff for Hannah. Some fashion stuff. I got a pair of $5 sunglasses and a $3 scarf. Fantastic!

We came home. And in the time that it takes to watch the Rodgers&Hammerstine Cinderella, we ate lunch, chopped 2 skillet-fulls of veggies for stir fry, made muffins, made a rice pilaf thing, and Mom got the chicken ready/marinated. OH and Mom got bread in the bread machine for Foccacia Bread!
We're having people over for dinner. :) All the Kent people! Kent people consist of: The Frank family, the Slack family, and the Miley family.

Annnd so I wrote the above. And now it's 10:05 and I just finished watching a rerun of Psych with the fam. :)

Having the Kent people over was super fun. I sat with Katie and Jake and Emily at the island for dinner.
We hung out and talked and played with Carter, Brooklynn, and Madalyn. Madalyn liked me :) I like her too. She's adorrrrable! She gave me her blanket and kind of dove head first into my lap. Adorable. (Say that with a French accent now...)

And now... NIPTO!
Acts 14:8-20
8In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. 9He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed10and called out, "Stand up on your feet!" At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.
11When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" 12Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

Paul&Barnabas traveled some and healed a guy who had never been able to walk. Paul was just speaking and he looked straight at this man and was given insight that he had true faith that he could be healed. Paul told him to stand up and he did. So then all the people saw this and were like, "WOAH. These guys are gods in human form!" And they called them gods. Like, for realz. And the priest of Zeus brought sacrifices for them... Erm.... yeah.

14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15"Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. 16In the past, he let all nations go their own way.17Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."18Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them.

So they heard that the people were going to sacrifice to them. And they were like, "NO. We're humans too. We just have this super awesome message that everyone needs to hear! Sure, we're different, but that's because of THE God. Not because we ARE gods! God's let you go your own way for now, but he's still going to give you rain in season and give you the things you need!"
Even with that the people weren't fully convinced. They still wanted to sacrifice to them.

19Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. 20But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

So then some Jews won them over against Paul&Barnabas and they stoned Paul and left him for dead. They all thought he was dead, but he wasn't. He got up. He went back into the city and then he&Barnabas left the next day.
How amazing is it that he got up and went back into the city where people had stoned him. That takes major guts. Or just major faith that God will keep you safe.
