NIPTO, Day 189

Hi readers! I'm in... a new place! My grandparent's house to be exact! It's the first stop on our vacation trek. :)
We're dropping the dog off here and then heading to an "undisclosed" location. Although y'all probably know where I'm going. I've probably said it in the past few days and am now being super secretive. And you're all laughing because you know where I'm going. And it seems like I don't! =P

Well... today was made up of: church (early service+the beginning of the second service), home for lunch, last minute packing, saying bye to Paige, and then hitting the road! We listend to the first... 4(???) chapters of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in our... 2 1/2-3 hour drive to my Mom's Mom's house.
We got here and talked and chilled... then they made dinner... we ate... SO much good food! Let's see if I can remember it all! I might need to call in Katie for reinforcements! ;) Okay: Shrimp&tomatoes, couscous, pulled pork, amazing corn, calico beans (I think), and grilled pineapple! It was all delicious! Thanks, Meme (and Pops!)
Then Katie, Hannah, Meme&I all played Mexican Dominos. It was fun. Annnd then we went on a walk around the loop of the street that their house is on (it's about a mile) and then came home and ate ICE CREAM! (Dairy Queen with either chocolate syrup, nuts, or strawberries (or all three! Although that doesn't sound very good! haha) I opted for the chocolate syrup and made ice cream "soup" :) Katie and I have been acting on our childish impulses lately! hah)
Then Dad and I worked on some stuff for a church brocure that they're passing out around the neighborhood next Saturday. We worked on that for a long time. And I just got sidetracked by it again :) (An artist's work is never done! =P)

NIPTO time!
Acts 15:1-11
1Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved." 2This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

Oh my. People were telling other people that you cannot be saved unless you're circumcised. And that got Paul&Barnabas into a tizzy. So they, and a few others, were chosen to go to Jerusalem to talk to some other apostles and elders about it.

3The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the brothers very glad. 4When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

They went on their way and travled through several cities. And they kept talking! They told... other believers(?) that some of the Gentiles had been converted and were Christians. That's always happy news. So they got up to Jerusalem and the church, apostles, and elders welcomed them and they told them everything that God had done through them.

5Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses."

Then some of the Pharisees (they always love a good debate) brought up that "Gentiles must be circumcised and [are] required to obey the law of Moses."  (Duhn duhn duhhh)

6The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: "Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? 11No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."

Oh Peter! Okay. Soo everyone gets together to talk about this. And after talking for a lonnng time Peter gets up and almost reprimands them. He tells them that God chose the Gentiles just as much as he chose them. That God didn't make any kind of distinction between the Gentiles and Jews. Both parties recieved the Holy Spirit... so why question God?
Saved through grace. That's what it really is. Both are saved by grace.

Wow. I like Peter. He's... pretty barbaric. And now, in the name of being a barbarian... or just because I'm tired&we have a long drive tomorrow, I'm going to sleep.
I hope you all had a fantabulous Sunday and that your Monday goes swimmingly! (I'll probably post late tomorrow night... :)
Goodnight all!
